The EUSSET Colloquium: A Way towards Intellectual Engagement

The EUSSET Colloquium is a forum where community members can engage in deep intellectual exchanges. Each colloquium is hosted by a speaker who brings a topic, question, or idea that will kick-off the discussion. Speakers can be invited, but you are also welcome to approach the Community Builder chairs and nominate yourself as a speaker. Anyone can host a colloquium, independent of your academic position. We’ve had colloquia hosted by PhD candidates and full professors. So, if you have an early draft of a paper that you would like to discuss with the community, are having difficulties to implement improvements suggested by reviewers or looking for feedback on a research proposal idea, this is the place for you. Just get in touch with the Community Building chairs through communitybuilding@eusset.eu. They are responsible for gathering discussion ideas and book a slot for them.

Each EUSSET Colloquium features one discussion idea or topic proposed by members of the community. The colloquium lasts one hour in which the speaker will briefly introduce the topic, and starts the discussion through a provoking statement or question. Proponents of discussion topics can submit materials, e.g. a paper, for the community to read in advance. Furthermoe, proponents prepare a 2-slide presentation to introduce their topic (title and question slides excluded). Meetings will happen over Zoom and people interested in participating are required to enroll to the event until 1 day before the event per e-mail. Confidentiality and conflicts of interest will be handled by the Community Building chairs.

If you have any queries about this format, please contact the Community Building chairs.
